Prophets, the prophetic mantle is not given for us to glorify ourselves, or to make a name for ourselves, but it is given by God to the Glory of God. True prophets are not to magnify their gifts, but to magnify God and to be examples of Christ’s love and affection for his people.
We Prophets, are the mouths, eyes, and ears of the Lord. We hear the spirit, we see in the spirit, and we speak from the spirit of God; NOT from our intellect, or our own knowledge. We must never operate from our own emotions or feelings, but strictly from the presence and power of All Mighty God. We do not prophesy based on our feelings nor correct in our own anger, but embrace the total persona of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our spirits must never be unruly, self willed, or proud, but we must personify all the fruits of the spirit. We do not collect God’s people, but we direct the people to God and we never ever speak or prophesy anything the Lord has not spoken.
True prophets do not charge or take gifts for their prophesy, as this could persuade to speak the will of the people; instead of the will of God. As some have done and became the mouth of people, instead of the mouth of God.
The Mantle of the Prophetic is not given until the spirit of the prophet has been broken. The prophet can never have his/her own mind, thought, or wisdom. He/she ceases to exist as themselves, and become totally the property of the Lord. They must never be driven by their own desires, hopes, or dreams. They are only the Lord’s. We take our assignments from the Lord, we can not take an engagement without the permission of the Lord. We are not in a popularity contest, but on assignment to complete the work given by the Lord himself.
Prophets, we are to respect the Mantle the Lord has placed on us and never pimp this mantle for vain glory, acknowledgment, popularity, or praise.
It is time we walk worthy of this Mantle and set the standards again for true prophets of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I truly understand it was prophesied to me that I have the mantle on my life. I have been through a lot since the word was spoken. I feel as if God is preparing me for the time when he is ready for me to walk in my anointing. I am trying to gain as much knowledge as I can. I really don’t know were God wants me to start and begin his work. All I know is that I want to with all my heart do his will and do what he has called me to do.

Dear James,
I like your post and what you have said is very true. We forget that we are to test everything and so easily run after people instead of God. God is truly busy raising up His true prophets among His children, but we must also realise the responsibility and impact of that call. It is a lifestyle not just a name.
I do have one question though, can you please elaborate on what you meant with “The Mantle of the Prophetic is not given until the spirit of the prophet has been broken.”
Do you mean that the flesh must completely die and we must be totally lead by God? As John said: “He must increase and I must decrease” or Paul that we need to put to death the works of the flesh by the Spirit that we may truly live.

Yes. A prophet may receive the calling to the office of the prophet, but must be prepared to carry the mantle. His/her will must be destroyed and they cannot be their own person, or have their own lives apart from the Lord because they are the oracles of God; the mouth piece of God if you will. The character of the prophet must also be destroyed and rebuilt by God himself so that he/she doesn’t become a loose cannon, motivated by their gift, and not the Lord.
The prophet of God must not be self-willed. This is why a true prophet of God goes through so much in the beginning, and is rejected by friends and family because the Lord is preparing them for the Prophetic Mantle. The Lord will not validate what he has not mandated, or prepared.

Hey I really thanks you for explaining and breaking it down. I work in the church a lot. I came from a family line of Preachers and Prophets. I been having dreams since I was little and still have dreams and visions a lot. Sometimes I go in tell people did not even know I was prophesying. A few weeks ago my Pastor call me out and said that I been call to be a Prophetess and something about a Prophetic Mantle. He said God have told you things to tell your family and you have not. One because I am scare. But now I am ready to do what ever God want me to do. I am ready to go forward.

If you are a prophet serving or working under the leading prophet of your church and the instructions of the leading prophet is not what the holy spirit is saying. How do I work around that……I know the voice of god it is very clear to me

If the Lord didnt tell you to do anything about it, then dont. He may just be showing you to pray/intercede for. But if He didnt tell you to move then dont. Always stay in order, even if your leadership is wrong. Bless you!

Thank you Prophet James! The last reply(July 10th)This answered my question……I was told more than once about having the Mantle over me.And I know God has used me as a vessel to prophesy, and has taking me behind the veil when praying for someone; and has taken me deeper into the word of God, and given me different spiritual gifts, however this gift prophetic isn’t always activated and I was wondering what i needed to do to always operate and hear from God, to operated in the office of a prophet. I understand that there are different levels and dimensions…..The Mantle is placed on you by God, why are there different institutes or schooling for prophets?

Many have taken on themselves the ability to teach new prophets how to be prophets, when all that is required to be taught is how to walk before God, obey his voice, and be holy. The Lord will take it from there.

it has been really hard for me to walk in this anointing the things I have had to go through and still going through. someone said to me a long time ago that they pray that I except the mantle, at that time I did’nt even know what he was talking about, I have always walked alone and I REALLY get tired of people asking me for a prophesy. I recently have had to go back to my old church and preparing to give my initial sermon in January and have wondered about the laying on of hands to stir up the gifting being that there are no prohets that walk in the office and the seer. I’m wondering is that nessecery?

My name is Natasha needing much understanding.
The LORD through my Apostle said that he has placed a prophetic mantle on my life and he gave me instructions on how to walk before GODS people and that my place is at the Alter. My Apostle fell ill- the LORD is restoring him to a greater Glory(I hope i used that in the right text).It has been about three years since he told me that.My life has been turned upside down spritiually and naturally.When my life begain to flip i pulled back from GOD.I just did not want to deal with the Supernatural aspect of it all- It was overwelming take for instance when certain people come around me i would get headaches and that is just the tip of the iceberg.I don’t understand, if GOD said that the mantle is on my life why did fear set in when supernatural dealings begain to take place? Is there not and anointing with the prophetic mantle that would have sustained me? I am beginning to have – what feels like a pulling to pray again. I am wakeing up at 4:30am for prayer,but i am not hearing his voice about anything not even about myself( but i am sensing an urgency of some sort). I am haveing dreams that people are breaking into my house some i kill with a gun and others when i pull the trigger and say in the name of JESUS the gun does not go off and i am over taken.I have dreams to where it seems i have awaken but i am still sleep and when i call on JESUS name i come out of it. If you can please give me some insight and understanding. I feel as if i am losing my mind sometimes.I do know that i am back in the right place which is in PRAYER.

Hello: I was at a church service and the preacher asked me to come and assist him with praying for a woman who was blind and the preacher said after tonight the prophectic mantle on your like will increase. Can you help me understand what the prophectic mantle is. I always thought a mantle had to be passed on to you from another person and I’m not sure what this really means for me. I am a pastor and I will be starting my church in a few more months. Thanks

I usually tell people to wait on God to decree a mantle upon them. No one but God can place a Mantle on you, and though others may see the anointing to prophesy does not mean one is a prophet. A mantle is a covering a cloak which means that the prophetic mantle is a spiritual cloak, or covering that the Lord places on his prophets. This mantle represents that God has chosen and ordained one to walk in the office of the Prophetic, and be his oracle his mouth piece. There is a gift of prophesy and the prophetic office. Many confuse the two, the gift of prophesy is just that a gift, you can ask for the gift to prophesy and you may prophesy every now and again. However, the office of the prophet is completely different. Here the prophet is held to a higher standard, they usually have their wills broken and destroyed. The office of the prophet is not a desirable office, because of the things suffered as a Prophet. The office prophet is not a fortune teller, is often alone and separated from the crowd. He will not usually be a featured speaker at events, if he is a real prophet, because the word God gives may not always be pleasing to hear. The mantled prophet is chosen by God, trained by God, and sent by God alone.

To God be the Glory. I to have been called I have been in training for sometime. God allowed me to work under a pure prophet who carried the Elijah mantle. I worked with her for 7 years. And the wonders of God has been astounding and truly humbling. Our first assignment was to the churches. We never left the scriptures, not once. And the Father would show us in great detail in the New Testament where that church was spiritually. If they were like the Colossians or Laodiceans etc. He would then give us strategy from scripture on how we were to handle our assignment. Needless to say heavy fasting was one of our weapons. I won’t go into to much further detail. But our purpose was to break up fallow ground so the Holy Spirit could enter and breath life into churchs that were spirtually dead. These are crucial times for the body of Christ. Do not walk out there until he equips you for the assignment. We are Gods agents. And being ignorant of the spiritual forces out their will put you under attack. Assume nothing, he has given us authority this is true..but the power is still Gods. Never ever try to go before him. Stay in the Word, walk in obedience, understand your purpose, and let God equip you for the assignment. I Praise God for his Goodness,Grace and Mercy to all who have been called to be in this walk.

Thank you for your post. I appreciate your post on the “Prophetic mantle.” That being said I would like to address the dichotomy of the office itself. James I, like you, hold the office of the prophet; yet my discernment tells me that we each flow within a different context. I may be going out on a limb here but it sounds like that God has given you the weighty assignment to minister within the church context; Meanwhile, I have been called to the community and much of that involves working outside the traditional church setting. The truth of the matter is that this is a lonely, daunting existence that we have been called to. It is a dynamic that few understand yet many wish to have. For the record I agree that we must have the fruits of the spirit. However when we look back to the Old Testament prophets, many of them lived fragmented lives. In addition, it was their assignment from God to speak truth to power. I think that many so-called prophets are in error about the call on their lives because they view prophesy only as “foretelling,” or prophesying about what will be in the future. Though this is apart of the assignmnet it appears that the crux of the mandate has been lost in translation. The fact is that the traditional church is passing away and is being replaced by technology, outreach centers, and so called faith-based social services. James our job will become more diverse because the traditional church is no more. I am excited about the transition because there will be much work to do but I ask you, what will you do? Obviously you are not fueled by self but seem to be moved by God through his son Jesus Christ. Moreover, the Holy Ghost is both our guide. I look forward to dialouging with you and hope you are open to my perspective.

First, to God be all the Glory for your enjoyment of this post. Yes I have been called to the body of Christ to prepare her, and wake her out of her sleep. However, it is much weightier than you may know. As you have said, so many prophets think that it is about foretelling the future, but it’s also about warning of disobedience, and all the things many people don’t want to address. I would love to be able to go out and do what the Lord has called you to do, but that’s not my calling, although I believe I could do that to some degree. I believe the modern prophet has been diminished to soothsaying, and glorification of the gift of prophesy, rather than the office of the prophetic which is deeper and weightier. The prophet God has called us to be is not in the crowd, or invited often to many functions, because we expose the truth of God, and often bear naked the folly of the church. I will stand where the Lord tells me to stand, do and say exactly what he tells me to say; be it on the street corner, or the backside of an alley. I thank God for our introduction and also look forward to dialoging with you regarding the purpose of God for us. Thanks for replying.

The mode of my operation has never been this clear,onething I know is that I have the gift to interceed.
For the poeple of God and nations as the spirit Leads me.
I remembered when I saw THE LORD CHRIST JESUS,he said to me what did I want
I said to him he should give wisdom,knowlegde and understanding
Ability to divide the word of truth.
Ever since then I only pray and still fast. Now am doing review of angelic ministry.
Is it that am suppose to understand them may the will deliever as the Lord lead me to speak or the spirit take whole of the meeting.

The Kingdom of God work by rank and order, which means that the same order must take place in the Kingdom of Heaven where we live. For prophets the rank it’s self is not prophetic the prophet him/herself carries the ranking.
The ranking one has determine the amount of authority they carry in the spirit to defeat demons. Which means that demons also carry rankings. Therefore, if a prophet encounters a demonic spirit that he/she is unable to cast out, this means the demon out ranks them. This is where Fasting and Prayer comes in. Fasting and prayer increases your ability to rank higher in the Spirit realm. This is why Jesus told us in the scriptures: “These kinds come not out, but by prayer and fasting.”

Recently I had 4 sperate visions in the space of six weeks, in which I was given a mantle the first was given to me droping out of heaven, secondly, by an elderly white lady in a church, thirdly, I was getting ready to preach I felt a strong prophetic anionting and I was remined to put on my tiliah, and fourthly, in my bedroom by the person we normanly pereive to be Jesus He came to my bedroom door, open it and threw the mantel on me.

I’m elated to know that this type of word is out there because there are so many who come in the name of the Lord yet doing their own will! I have been told by many continually that I walk in this office but I tell you I’m not scared, careful, nor am I cocky – but I’m very prayerful because I dare not step into an arena that can and will destroy me. So I chose to continue to learn about this gifting, this office every chance I get, and I still am apprehensive about moving out of season! And my question is can you learn to much? as I believe in investing in my ministry – Keep me in your prayers.

I have been prophesied to that the mantle is on my life. Sence then I have been tryig to find the real meaning of the mantle and how to carry out the will of God with the mantle. There are many other prophets in my church, but God called me out?! I have been broken many, many, times….I have become slow to move, because of rejection. I know it is time to step out. Pray my strenght in the Lord God Almight.
